Advance America shut down 45 centers in Oregon after a law limited interest rates on the short-term loans the company provided. The pay day lender also closed down 31 of its 98 centers in Pennsylvania after a judge ruled the company’s subsidiary in the state had to cease operations and discontinue its offerings. Advance America is retaining leases on 67 centers while it determines alternative loan products to offer in the state.
